It leverages Open Container Initiative (OCI) technology to bundle all components of an AI/ML project—including models, datasets, code, configurations, and prompts—into an immutable, versioned, and layered artifact called a ModelKit. These ModelKits can be stored in existing OCI container registries, integrating seamlessly with CI/CD and DevOps workflows. The tool focuses on simplifying the production handoff of AI/ML models, ensuring traceability, and enhancing security. Key features include cryptographically signing ModelKits with Cosign, enabling security scans and attestations, and ensuring tamper-proof integrity through SHA-256 digests. This allows organizations, particularly those in regulated industries, to control and audit their AI assets effectively. KitOps also supports the CNCF ModelPack specification, providing a vendor-neutral AI/ML interchange format. The Kit CLI allows users to pack, unpack, push, pull, compare, and inspect ModelKits, while the PyKitOps Python SDK offers similar functionalities for data scientists within their Python workflows. It aims to elevate AI artifacts to first-class, governed assets, similar to application code.
